There are many cutters on the market, but really, there are five basic types: Guillotine, Double Edge, V-Cut, Scissor and Punch Cut.
Guillotines use a single blade to cut the tip of the cigar and can be used on any ring size cigar, even if the cigar does not fit all the way through the hole. Double Edge cutters use two blades to open the cigar and the blades sharpen against each other. V-Cuts cut a notch (or V) into the end of the cigar and allow airflow through a relatively small opening. Punch cutters make a round incision on the end of the cigar, allowing the smoke to be drawn through while not destroying the cap of the cigar. Scissor cutters work on all cigars, including cutting the cigar in half.
